The skin is made up of three basic layers: the epidermis, dermis, and subcutis. Chemical peels act by different mechanisms to remove skin at different layers with different outcomes, risks and downtimes. The word "chemical" scares most people but be assured that if performed in a safe setting, the process is controlled. Chemical peels have been used throughout history to restore skin back to a younger, healthier state.
We feel that peels are very beneficial because they can be customized for each patient. We recommend peels for a variety of skin conditions such as active acne, post discoloration of acne, sun damage, melasma, fine lines and aging/mature skin.
